Here is another one from my Australia trip:
In New South Wales are many coal mines located arount the Hunter Valley. Between these mines and the port of Newport (biggest coal port of the world!) runs the so called "Hunter Valley Coal Chain". Around 50 loaded coal trains with 10.000tons each run every day between the mines and the port (and return emtpy). Most of the traffic is handled by modern EMD or GE diesels (built under license in Australia). They belong to 3 major freight companies: Pacific National, Aurizon and Xtrata.
Here we see a loaded coal train from Xtrata in November 2013 near Singleton/NSW.
Sorry for not being able to write this in Polish. But when my wife Aneta is back from her parents visit you will receive Polish texts again ;-) |

Beautiful train!
Why isn't this line electrified yet? So intensive traffic should be good economical reason to do it. |
