28/08/2008 - Many years ago, some Italian private company buy from Czech Republic a few locos of the group 753 CD. NordCargo's loco was registered as DE520, for all the other company the registration was D752 for the loco with the original engine, and D753 for the loco with the more poweful Caterpillar engine.
These locomotives is usually called "Occhialute", "Bespectacled" in English, for the particular shape of the front glass of the cab that seems like glasses.
One of this private company is Sistemi Territoriali (7 locos) who travel mainly around Venice.
Between August and October Sistemi Territoriali ensures a train between Portogruaro and Pontelongo (VE) to bring sugar beet to a local sugar factory. From Portogruaro to Venice Mestre the train is normally pulled from a Trenitalia Cargo's loco, then Sistemi Territoriali pulled the train in their own line (Mestre - Adria) to the railway siding in the sugar factory.
I think this is an interesting train who run on a line, the Mestre - Adria, who is normally traveled only by DMUs for local servicies.
